Sergio Aguero will leave Manchester city after the World Cup...

Aguero's father appears to have taken the decision out of his son's hands but City can expect at least another three years out of their star man.

He told ESPN the striker would eventually like to move back to his native Argentina to join boyhood club Independiente.

"He wants to come back," he said “After Russia he’ll be returning with lots of energy.”

Aguero began his career at the Argentinian club, working his way through the ranks before making his professional debut at just 15 years old.

After scoring 23 goals in 56 games, La Liga giants Atletico Madrid parted with a fee of around £16 million to bring him to Spain where he became one of the hottest properties in Europe.

City lured him to the blue half of Manchester in a deal worth a reported £38m and he has been a hit ever since, scoring the winning goal that saw the club clinch their first ever Premier league title in 2012.

The Argentina international is expected to be a key figure again next season and manager Manuel Pellegrini will be keen to keep hold of the 27-year-old for the remainder of his contract at least.

The club look set to further strengthen, with a deal for Raheem Sterling edging closer and the likes of Paul Pogba and Kevin De Bruyne on their radar.
